• FECOT Conducts Matriculation Ceremony for Fresh Students

    The Federal College of Orthopaedic Technology (FECOT) Igbobi, Lagos, a monotechnic charged with the responsibility of training manpower in the field of Prosthetics/Orthotics and Orthopaedic Cast Technology conducted a matriculation ceremony at which twenty-six students were admitted into National Diploma programme in Prosthetics & Orthotics and twenty-three (23) in Orthopaedic Cast Technology on Tuesday, 17th March, 2020 at the FECOT Multi-Purpose Hall.

    Speaking at the matriculation ceremony, the Medical Director, Dr. Mustapha Alimi, who was ably represented by the Head of Clinical Services, Dr. Idowu Olatunji congratulated the new students and their parents on their admission into the reputable institution. He admonished the matriculants to remain focused on their studies so as to perform excellently. He also urged the parents/guardians to take charge of the financial needs of their wards as well as provide other support needed for them to succeed in their chosen careers. Dr. Idowu charged the lecturers to ensure that the students are well grounded in their professions.

    At the event, the matriculants undertook to pay due respect and obedience to the Management of the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos and the Federal College of Orthopaedic Technology. They also promised to desist from any form of misconduct such as examination malpractice, cult activities, drug addiction, possession of dangerous weapons and so on.

    Addressing the students on the need to obey the laid down rules and regulations of the institution, the Provost of FECOT, Mr. Simeon Opatade decried that the school authority will not hesitate to discipline any erring student that fails to comply with the laws guiding the conduct of students in the institution. He therefore enjoined the matriculants to conduct themselves in a dignifying manner.

    The Head of Administration of National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos, Mrs. Edoghogho Osagiede encouraged the students to study diligently and also depend on God for success. The matriculants were also admonished to cooperate with their lecturers, school authority and Hospital Management.

    FECOT is approved and recognized by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO) and the institution is self-accounting and autonomous.
